Even at odds of 14 million to 1 everyone has thought about what they would do if they won.

Sadly life’s lottery offers a greater chance of suffering a serious illness than most of us would care to think about.

Claims Statistics from Bright Grey (A life insurer) for the second half of 2010 give some interesting insights;

It’s the last thing you want to consider and the last thing you would think about insuring against.

You may not have realised it but many UK insurers add Children’s cover for free and automatically added to their parent’s policy.

That lump sum of up to £25,000 could make all the difference in the world;

How would you live on £81.60 per week? PDF Print E-mail

Unfortunately if you couldn’t work through ill health you might have to find out.

You might be surprised to learn that statutory sick pay is only £81.60 a week, these days that’s just enough to buy about 60 litres (13 Gallons) of petrol.

Other state benefits aren’t as generous as you might think either;

  • Statutory Sick pay is only £81.60 a week and is only paid for 28 weeks
  • Employment and support allowance is only £67.50 per week
  • Bereavement payment is a one off sum of £2,000 but would it even cover the funeral costs.
  • Widowed parent’s allowance is only £100.70 per week, how much would that buy for your children?

You don’t have to rely on the state; you can protect yourself and your loved ones.

If you would like a protection review then please contact me to schedule a time to have a chat.
